Utilizing Superpave Gradations to Assess Permanent Deformation and Fracture in HMA Mixes
نویسندگان
چکیده
This research study investigates the Fatigue Failure & Permanent Deformation response behaviour of four (04) HMA mixtures. The selected gradations have a Nominal Maximum Aggregate Size (NMAS) 19.0 mm, and gradation blends passed Above (ARZ), Below (BRZ), Through (TRZ), restricted zone. Along with Superpave ARZ, BRZ TRZ conventional NHA, “Class A” was also checked for performance parameters, thus producing results in contrast to NHA already used by highway industries Pakistan. Three (03) tests were carried out this that, includes Indirect Tensile Strength Test (IDT), repeated (ITFT), Moisture Susceptibility Test. Statistical analysis done based on laboratory-produced results. Two-Level Factorial Design using statistical tool Minitab-16. shows that OBC, P0.075/Pbe (Dust Binder Ratio), Peak Force significantly affect No Cycles Failure. A linear Model developed an R square .74 which seems fit well. IDT evaluated mix as having best laboratory fracture resistance properties all tested mixes, while ARZ performed test. Moreover, gave us insight into practical reliable way measure parameters needed Fracture Mechanics method.

Effect of Superpave Defined Restricted Zone on Hot Mix Asphalt Performance
The effect of the Superpave defined restricted zone on HMA rutting performance was evaluated. One gradation that violated the restricted zone (TRZ) and two gradations that did not violate the restricted zone (BRZ and ARZ) were evaluated. Mixes evaluated represented a range of maximum aggregate sizes (MAS), design traffic levels, and aggregate types. Three laboratory tests, Asphalt Pavement Anal...

Systematic, well-designed research provides the most effective approach to the solution of many problems facing highway administrators and engineers. Often, highway problems are of local interest and can best be studied by highway departments individually or in cooperation with their state universities and others. However, the accelerating growth of highway transportation develops increasingly ...
متن کاملImpact of Aggregate Gradation and Type on Hot Mix Asphalt Rutting In Egypt
Rutting of flexible pavement is considered one of the major pavement distresses noted around the world and in Egypt. Many investigators showed at about 55 to 80% of rutting occurred in the surface layer. Rutting of asphalt surface layer may be due to many causes happened during construction phase and service phase. The main objectives of this research are to evaluate the impact of aggregate gra...

The high-velocity impact resistance of hot-pressed zirconum diboride with 30 volume percent silicon carbide was studied using a combined experimental and computational approach. Test specimens in the form of 2 mm thick polished disks were impacted with -0.8 mm diameter tungsten carbide spheres at velocities up to 320 d s . The intrinsic flexure strength of the specimens was -1000 MPa. The flexu...
